Home, hats and aunt Nikki
I've been wanting to shout it out for a while, but respectfully tried to curb my enthusiasm. However I think it's fine now to let myself go a bit... I'm becoming an aunt! Those of you who know me or have been following my blog for a while know that I love children and can't wait to have little ones myself. Becoming an aunt first surprised me a little, I always thought I would be the first mum in our family. I have to admit mixed feelings of incredible joy but also a slight sadness and longing washed over me. Joris and I just aren't in the right place yet to start having children and sometimes I'm finding this a little hard to cope with.
But let's not forget about the incredible joy, I love becoming an aunt and I love to be a little part of all the beautiful developments that are happening now. Last week my brother, his wife and I went shopping and when I saw my brother with a glowing face and tiny baby clothes in his hands, I thought it was the most endearing thing I'd seen in a long while. My mixed feelings were instantly replaced by a thankfulness that my brother and his wife get to experience this most wondrous happening and that I may watch my brother transform into a dad.
I made my niece or nephew a little bonnet, when I made it I visualized a little curly blonde girl. I have four brothers, which I love, but it's time for some girl power in the family ;). I used this tutorial. I discovered it was quite easy and made myself a bigger floral hooded version with fleece so I can wear it during the upcoming cold!
