A couple of weeks ago, Joris and I heard some panicky meow's coming from outside. We looked over the edge of our balcony and saw a tiny black and white critter dive in to the bushes. I looked at Joris and he gave me an approving nod, after which I sped down the stairs. Not long after, I held in my arms a cute loudly purring little kitten. And you know what happened next?
My heart opened. Do you know that feeling? The feeling your chest suddenly explodes with warmth and love. Maybe it's the maternal side in me, or maybe I'm just a little over sensitive, but how can someone leave something so small outside and not worry? After taking a couple of photos (Miss Pentax rarely leaves my side) I opened the container hanging from his collar and found out this little mister lives two doors next to us.
I brought him home and his owner told me he was about 3 months, and that it was his first day outside. I didn't dare telling her my thoughts on the matter, so I guess that's why I'm telling you... I once heard that the average life span of outdoor kitties is about four years, but if you plan on having an adventurous kitty than please, at least wait until they are proper sized.
Today I heard little mister meowing outside again and we spend a good hour or so cuddling in our stairwell. Moos and Frutsel got to sniff his nose and I can almost still hear the loud purring this tiny fella produced. It was hard to let him go again, but I'm happy I was able to give him some love, because I had some extra to spare :).
