Paris -3-

For our third and last day in Paris, Joris and I decided to visit the Notre Dame.

We sort of expected to go in, but again the line to the entrance was miles long like the line at the Louvre. Because I wanted to visit many other places on our last day, we slowly walked around it and marveled at the beauty.

All those wonderful tiny details...

And faces..

Some of them very kind and cute :). I still regret not getting in line a little, but we did end up seeing a lot of other nice places that day.

Like the picturesque Rue Mouffetard in one of Paris's oldest neighborhoods, with cute little bars, cafe's and shops.

And a couple of streets in the 6th and 15th arrondissement, where I wanted to visit Mamie Gateaux..

It was a shame we couldn't stay here for long, or discovered it sooner, because there were pretty much zero tourists in this area and a lot of brocante shops.

But we had to hurry back to the apartment to have dinner and after that, visit the last bit of Montmartre we hadn't covered yet :).

I found another 'Mamie' shop, this one filled with clothes, accessories and the biggest pile of vintage shoes I've ever seen!

So much to see!

Unfortunately we had to go back to the apartment sooner than I wanted to pack our suitcase and clean the apartment. We did have a wonderful time though, I won't forget our trip and the amazing and less amazing things we experienced, and most important the fun times we had together discovering a new place...

Lomo Saturday

My Pentax came with me to Paris.

I didn't take a lot of photos with it but I'm very happy with the ones I have. Pentax is magic.

I have a lot of more photos of the Notre Dame for Paris part 3 :).

At the station waiting for our train.

Paris -2-

Day two in Paris. Joris and I took the metro the the first 'arrondissement'. Next to our apartment was a metro station, I actually found out when watching the film Amélie in Paris that the same metro station is in the film :)!

Understandably, I needed to pose there in a fancy dress. Taking the metro in Paris is very ideal, it takes you everywhere you want and the stops are very close to everything you need to see. Also it's cheap! At least compared to the costs of Dutch public transport. They are very cramped and hot though, sometimes Joris and I couldn't even get in some metro's because of the great amount of tourists and frenchies.

La Droguerie was a very neat store filled with everything you need to be a productive crafty girl. From yarn to buttons to ribbon, beads etc. I especially loved all these little jars filled with flowers:

We strolled past another very beautiful store in which I spend a lot of time ah-ing and ooh-ing:

Especially for these ones...

After boring Joris with all my shopping and hoarding behavior we decided to visit the Louvre before going back to the apartment for dinner.

Of course there was a crazy long line to get in so we skipped the Mona Lisa :( but perhaps someday we'll meet her when going back to Paris.

After dinner we had another stroll through Montmartre, I just couldn't get enough of it!

A lot of stores were open till about 8 pm, so I was lucky enough to have a second shopping spree (poor Joris ;)). I found a really awesome vintage shop near 'Abesses', and sooo cheap!

I feel like I tried on every single piece of clothing there, and ended up leaving with several cute vintage dresses and skirts, yay!

Afterwards we went back to the apartment again and prepared for our third (and last) day in Paris. Hold on tight for part three!

Paris -1-

Last week Joris and I went to Paris. June wasn't such great month for me so I was happy (though a little anxious as well) to go on a little trip. I took a lot of photos and selected some of my favorites to share with you :).

We rented a little apartment in Montmartre, the area reminded me so much of the film Amélie! In fact the metro station around the corner of our apartment was featured in the film. The first day in Paris we strolled through Montmartre and ran into many lovely places...

On our way to the Sacré Coeur we came across the most amazing shop, I still regret not spending all my money there (I wanted to save some for the rest of the trip, but this shop really had Nikki written all over it). I did buy a sweet mint green tin to save my Paris keepsakes in.

The beautiful Sacré Coeur.

Can our home be this color please?

Before we went on our trip nearly everybody told me Paris would be crazy touristy. Well, I thought.. We'll see. But they were right, it was nearly impossible to take photos without (other) tourists in it. Though I loved discovering Paris, what I loved more was discovering that next year we would love to go somewhere peaceful and quiet after a trip to this hectic city ;).

After visiting many more cute shops and the Moulin Rouge, we sat down for a delicious organic apple juice in 'Milk' (thanks for the tip Eefje!).

This cute dog sat in the window next to our apartment every day, I wanted to take her home but Joris happened to be against it ;).

That evening we visited the Eiffel tower. We didn't climb it, Joris is a little afraid of heights. I didn't mind because of the crazy people mass and illegal street sellers with shiny miniature Eiffel towers. We went back to our little apartment and prepared for the next day. More photos soon :).

Lomo Saturday

My first photos from the Pentax K1000. I need to say it, I love this camera. I have never loved a camera as much as this one up till now.

With an iso 400 film it takes perfect photos without natural day light, I'm just in love with the one above. It's unedited and the colors are perfect. Iso 400 was a little too bright outside, lots of photos turned a little blueish but I'm not sure if this is because of the iso or my negatives scanner.

By now you might be wondering what you are looking at? These photos were all taken here. An old factory filled with special objects.

We drove past it on our way back from a fleamarket, taking an experimental route and just had to take a peek inside!

I'm glad we did, there was a great vibe and on the top floor was a bit of a silly but special little museum, with dolls representing people in the early days. I guess I was so busy taking everything in I forgot to take photos of them...

Lots of items were for sale, so I plan to go back some time loaded :).

Little things in June

Some moments of joy in June:

A pretty vintage purse in the mail | Beautiful packaging | Flowers

Flipping through my favorite childhood book 'Deesje' | Mail from Finland | My sweet mom bringing me a big pile of mindful books | A reminder of something my future could one day hold.

Ada visited, she met her sister Greta | My sweet companion during long bed times | Sewing new kitchen curtains.
