Twin Sisters
My grandmother Beppie (the girl on the left in both pictures)
died a few years ago. One of the bravest things I did so far is read a poem on her funeral (I'm not a public speaker). I still think about her a lot.
I like that she was one of a two egged twin. I secretly dream about having twins someday as well. Her twin sister Annie is still alive. Beppie and Annie didn't look much like each other in the past, but about a year ago I visited the town my grandma, her family and my mother grew up in when I ran in to my grandmothers twin sister. At first I was completely in shock because she now is the spitting image of my grandma. I sat with her in the bus, and when we were at her stop, and the bus left, she waved at me exactly like my grandma waved at me. It was almost magical.
She also lives in the same elderly home my grandma lived in,
and tomorrow, my mom and I are going to visit her. I think it'll be very weird, almost like going back in time to visit my grandma, except it will be her sister. At the same time I'm very grateful though, that I get to spend some time with someone as close to my grandma as it's going to get, a piece of her.
